Jazon71 - 2009-03-20 10:51 PM Every time I see a man in speedos I think "Man.. he's got guts." If it works for you, go for it... I would just feel like ben stiller in meet the parents.

LOL.  Excellent reference.  Excellent.

hmmm.  since you asked the ladies, i assume you are asking about the "sexiness" or "attractiveness" of them..... if that is correct, i would say that unless you look like michael phelps.....not hot.

with that said, if you are comfortable, who cares.

there is a guy that i have seen that wears those regularly who also has a tramp stamp.....now that is HOT!!

If I wore the speedo, I think you'd actually be thinking "Man...he's got a gut!"

I should preface this in that my pool is outdoors and it's hot here!

I have both jammers and speedos. If I only wear the jammers I get funky tan lines, so I'll alternate between the two. I guess around 60% speedos 40% jammers. There's hardly anyone at my pool when I usually go, so I'm not really bothered and I don't think my body is too bad!

I did feel a bit self-concious the first couple of times I wore the speedos though!

You are only supposed to wear Speedo's if you have about 50 lbs of gut hanging over and it almost covers the entire front of the Speedo's ...

... or you are packing a sausage the size of a little league baseball bat.

Other than that I'd stick with the Jammers.

after swimming in my tri shorts a few times and reading on the back (washing instructions) to keep them clear of any type of chlorine i switched to jammers.  Used to wear drag suits/brief style on the swim team in HS but now I prefer the jammers to work out in.

They are more acceptable.

I'll chime in! I once had to share a lane with a very hairy ,unfit dude in a tiger striped speedo...who insisted on swimming down the middle of the lane. He and his speedo came perilously close to brushing up against me several times. I still shudder.

However I have also shared a lane with a smoooooooooth  uber- fit dude in a plain black speedo.....that wasn't so bad !

I'd have decided real quick on that one that it was suddenly a bike/run kind of day.

...& X3 on needing pics.

Jammers only here.

Everyone who wears banana hammocks at my pool is either old (60+) or old school race guys (usually over 45 that competed when they were younger).

Very rarely I see a young kid who is on a swim team using one.  But even the majority of them wear jammer style suits.

Ok so as a few of you may know (from the Georgia forum), I lost an expensive pair of tri shorts at LA Fitness a few weeks ago.  I learned my lesson that I should not be swimming in my tri shorts on a regular basis.  So I finally went to Sports Authority this afternoon to get some swim gear.  Long story short, I ended up getting a pair of TYR speedo type shorts, the underwear looking ones.  I, personally, NEVER thought I would wear these kind of shorts in my life.  But I tried them on and actually liked them.  So my question for the guys is, how many of you train in these types of shorts?  Lets just call them speedos with a lowercase 's'.  And for the ladies, what do you think of guys that wear them?  Is it acceptable, sexy, or do you think "who is this clown?"  Obviously depends on the guy, but in general okay.

Thanks!

I wouldn't wear one.  Ever. I wear Speedo jammers and that is my limit.  just as comfortable as a traditional "speedo" and much less bad looking.

anytime my wife sees someone in one, she says, "gross."  no matter how ripped.

What you must picture is myself and the other TWO women in the lane......with our faces scrunched up in the "icy" pose trying like heck not to get brushed.....trust me there was not enough room in that lane ..........

A lot of guys at our pool train in the short-shorts (like James Bond wears) and few in the speedo-briefs and some wear "jammers".  No one is going to look askance either way, though.  Wear what you have and when it wears out (because they all do), you can buy something else.  I personally think the short-shorts are easy on the eyes.

However, if you are 25 and reasonably fit, the ladies at the pool will thank you to wear the speedo banana-hammock.  Just saying.

I am in favor of the speedo style briefs, especially now that I am imagining a 25 year old buff guy (pics would help though...).  Purely based on looks, I am not a fan of the jammers.  They are just as revealing and prone to showing off your spare tire as the speedos and I don't get to see your legs  -  and I'm a leg woman.  That's this lady's perspective on the topic.

as a woman - I actually love seeing a guy in speedos who has a hot body. Doesn't even have to have the hottest body, but tall and lean with no handles works well for me. And I look. No shame.

Jammers are ok, but I prefer nice bod in speedos.

But I grew up swimming in high school and went to a swim college, so I'm totally biased.

First of all, why does anyone care what others train in? I barely notice. But surprisingly, there are tons of guys that swim at my pool in the underwear type speedos. They are all in relatively good to phenomenal shape, but the ages span 20s to 60s. I never think anything of it, except of course there is sometimes a nice view to be had underwater If you think the speedo is comfortable and you'll enjoy training in it, wear it!

I wear speedos, not the bikini style but the short-shorts style.  It has maybe a couple inches of leg to it.  I'm a scuba diver and they're the only think that fits comfortably under a wetsuit too, so they get used in multiple scenarios.  And I'm a clyde so maybe I don't like Phelps in 'em, but F-it, I'm not here to wine a beauty contest.

I rock the jammers.  At first I was a little shy about swimming with them.  I used to play basketball and was quite comfortable with baggy shorts.  After 1 or 2 sessions, I couldn't imagine swimming without them.  Who cares what anyone else thinks.

I would be a much better swimmer if that guy went to my pool......or i might also drown.  one of the two would definitely happen.

X2.  If this guy was at my pool, I'd never leave.   Sadly, my pool is full of old, hairy guys.

Rock the speedo if you can do it....   But this thread is useless without pics!!!!

I'll agree with what many people have said-- wear whatever you're comfortable in.

Now to give me personal opinion on what's hottest: I LOVE drag suits. I think they are the boxer brief of swim suits-- shows your figure nicely, but leaves a little something to the imagination. A fit guy in a drag suit is heaven.
