The best part was.....my training totals going into that race:

swim total: 14K
Bike total: 122 miles
Run total: 28 miles

Then I took a year or two off.

Nice job Slake - I wondered if I ever posted one of these.

It all started with me falling off my bike in my driveway!  My wife, who started tri four years before me, recommended that I ask the folks at BT because they are friendlier.  She said that Clydes and Athena's got THRASHED at SlowTwitch, and slow and beginner triathletes could be made to feel bad.

I have only been on ST for about 5 minutes total.  Obviously, I spend a little more time here.

Reston Tri course - the hill at the end of baron cameron is very steep and a real struggle...3 laps around course

I was a superstar on my softride. I really thought that this was the single best bike ever back in the day - it just looked so cool....never mind that I used to bop up and down every pedal stroke.

Do I even NEED to post my results from Luray to emphasize the newbie atrocity there? I think my average mph was just under 10 mph, because of all of the walking and hills and crap.

Will be interesting to see what sort of numbers I post at Rumpass. Especially with the new bike fit, which I'm quite convinced will help - he raised my seat a lot...

My first workout was logged in Aug. 2005. It was chock full of detail:

RUN
20m 2.00 miles 10m/Mi

SWIM
20m 800.00 meters 02m 30s /100 meters

I continued to log my training, but didn't add any details to the notes section until the end of October when I posted:

"HRM training is killing me. I am running soooo slow."

I am digging now to find my first inspire by a VAMDDCBTTC'er.

"Swimming...ugh.... I need to do something about my swim crappiness.  I feel like I lurch.. breathe... lurch.. breathe... lurch... in the water.  100 yards later I'm gasping for air and have to switch to breast stroke and I'm not even swimming all that fast.  How the heck am I THAT out of breath after swimming such a short distance?!?! :::::::gasssssppppp::::::: "

12/21/07
3:06/100 yards
46:30
1500

haha.. I still have a lot of work to do on my "swim crappiness," but, hey, at least it's improving

Good luck with your training for Diamondman!

How do you feel? Do you think you are ready? I am a bit nervous, but I suppose that is to be expected considering it is my first HIM."

POST OF THE DAY!

I never did an 'introduce yourself'. I got talked into coming on BT from some tri friends. I was using another site, TriFuel (probably down now) and they convinced me BT was much cooler. They were right.

Do I even deserve to post in this thread? I didn't originate from VA when I joined BT. I feel like a foster kid...GA/TX/VA.

My first log entry. I joined several months earlier, but since my training partner was a coach, I didn't see the reason to log workouts. Shame.

3h 21m 07s 56.00 miles 16.71 Mi/hr

2h 18m 52s 13.10 miles 10m 36s/Mi

42m 22s 1.20 yards -----

Gulf Coast 1/2 Iron. My first 1/2. I've only had my bike for a month and a half.
