From the SA website forums...from some user:
Local Paper has water temp at 74 deg today - 4/12/05 - should go up another deg. or 2 by race day

From the SA website forums...from the Race Director Steve Meckfessel (though dated 3/10)
The water temperature in Tampa Bay during event weekend is projected to be 74-80 degrees.  Definitely bring your wetsuit, although there are no guarantees you'll be permitted to wear it during the swim.

Has anyone looked on the satriathlon website for the wave order?  OMYGAWSH!  I don't even begin my race until 8:35!  I'm in wave 21.  My hubby is in wave 12!  Still gotta get up early because transition closes at 7:00a.m., so I still gotta get my transition area set up before then.

WHO'S GOING TO BE WAITING WITH ME FOR 1 1/2 HOURS??  (Where's that keg Sue promised???)

I'll wait with ya, Sharon. My volunteer gig ends when body marking ends (when the games begin).

Lisa, I'm 8:25. I think I am going to try to go to the reception on Fri night so I know who you all are so I can try to find you on Sunday morning. Is there going to be a meeting spot on Fri night?

When/where will it be possible to OWS before the race ( on Friday and Saturday )? Anybody know?

Will the race venue be open? Should I just head in off the beach by my hotel? Don't need a measured course/distance, just going by time, but looking for a good/recommended place to OWS, and certainly if the actual course is open/marked that'd be first option.

Same goes with biking. Any bike paths/routes in the area?

I posted this in your thread in Group Training:

Chris, I don't know if you have access to a car but if you do, you might want to take a 20 minute drive to Fort DeSoto for your OW swim and biking. Aside from being beautiful (rated #1 beach in continental US), it has a dedicated bike/walk path that loops about 20 miles. LOTS of room for your OW swim too.

http://www.pinellascounty.org/park/05_Ft_DeSoto.htm

I might be up for an OW swim and ride on Saturday. I'm SLOW so don't expect me to keep up.

I also have room on my roof rack for another bike + can obtain use of a trunk rack for a max of 4 bikes, if we had a small group interested in going.

I remember last year the finishing area of the swim was open on Saturday afternoon for practice.  That way you could swim out a ways and practice sighting the exact thing you'll be looking for on race day.  It was actually a deep water exit, going up some metal stairs (that's assuming it's the same this year)

there's chatter going on elsewhere about folks doing practice swims out on the course.  I could ask the RD through the ST A's forum, but I'm pretty sure it's gonna be open.

I plan on going for a practice swim on both Friday and Saturday mornings. I'm looking at 10am on Saturday (after I cheer on some friends doing Meek & Mighty). I haven't set a time for Friday.

Prelim times/etc. posted in group training thread. Follow-up there if you're interested and we'll coordinate rides/meeting places.
