I have my first triathlon (a sprint) in two weeks and was trying to plan my transitions.  I would really like the bike and run data from my 405 but don't want to waste too much time trying to get it.

Is the HRM water proof?  I was thinking I could put it on before the swim and then have my 405 set up on my bike.

I learned this yesterday.  i had a race and wasn't sure what to do about putting on the strap in transition or to put it on for the swim.  I saw a guy putting on his suunto pre-race and he said it was fine, so I put on my Garmin 405 strap and it worked perfectly fine.

Wearing the strap is just fine for the swim.  I have done it with all of them.  Polar, Timex, Garmin....
