Subject: calf pain
I am suffering from calf pain which is deep in the center of the calf. It doesn't hurt when I walk or bike. But as soon as I begin to run it begins to ache. Anyone else having this problem.

i think so, my R calf started to hurt (felt like a deep bruise) about three weeks ago. took a week and a half off, but after a 15k run yesterday, it flaired up a bit again. i did a indoor brick today, but changed my shoes to a pair of new ones. so far, so good.
try switching out your shoes if they're nearing the end of their life.

Could it be that your calf is weaker than the other and it is straining to keep up? I'm not sure. Here is a site with some good strength training for the calf and other leg muscles. www.smiweb.org/guides They also have some stretches on the site that may be helpful. I do know that a tight calf muscle can lead to numerous problems. Are you actively stretching?

Got the new shoes and the SMI website is great. I'm going to start doing some new stretches today. We will see how it goes. Thanks a ton.
