Subject: "public logs"?

Okay, an option is to make our training log "public" or "private".  Does "public" apply to registered users of the forum only?  "Private" means me only, right?

I tried to put a link to it in my outlook email program, but it wasn't letting anyone in.

thanks

That's always been my understanding, Lucy, that only registered members could view your log. I gave links to my log to unregistered friends. They couldn't get in until they registered themselves. But I'll defer to the gurus here to give a definitive answer.

I do, however, have a related question...If 'private' means must me and 'public' means all registered users can view, are there any 'in between' options? Perhaps that I could specify certain users can view and/or that certain users cannot? Or is the private vs. public an all-or-nothing proposition?

this will be the address of your log - public or private:

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/index-weekly.asp?memberid=10024

private is not FULLY private.  private means your blog button link will not show up in you user profile, forum posts or blog lists.

the reason that it prolly didnt work in the email program is that you went to your personal log and tried to copy/paste the link...if you go into your log via the 'training log' button at the top, this is cookied data so your user number is not apparent in the URL...hence the link u provided doesnt work for other people.  you actually have to find your log URL through other means to get your usernumber included in the URL...kinda confusing.

YOU CAN get the appropriate URL to give out if you go to your 'profile' (the button from your posts) and click on the log button.  then the URL includes your member number.  i know, totally weird.

wingfan, you may have did what lucy did in giving your link out...henc it didnt work as your member number wasnt included.  yours is  http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/index-weekly.asp?memberid=5333

ALTHOUGH private or not, USERS MUST be logged in to view any log.  'Guests' can't.
