Your best bet is to ask Ktriathlete. She and Mel swim out there every weekend.

I was planning on doing the 4000 as well, but then I realized the race is Saturday! I have to work and am really bummed to not be racing this. I know that RioRio has said that she will be out there.

Do you have a link to the race? Are there different distances you can choose from?

Yeah, I would think you could do it pretty much no problem. It's roughly double the OWS (shore, around the outer buoys, back to shore) that we do on Thursday, and you've gone up to 2600 in pool practice at a pretty good pace. Just pace it, and you should be fine. If I don't remember, remind me on Tuesday and we'll make sure you have a "rescue" stroke that you can do if you get tired. You've been putting in some GREAT workouts, so go for it!

And, it's only 500m more than what you'll be doing for Tempe, so it'll be a great boost for you!

Yep, heading over to Wildflower but look out for some of my training buddies from TriRevolution. I think some of them are doing the 2000.

Yup Jealous and PO'D  that race directors schedule races on Saturdays when clearly Sundays are a much better choice. (at least according to me and my schedule, lol)

This entire series (except one) is held on saturdays and Mid-morning at that. MAYBE, MAYBE I could do it if started earlier. UGGH!

Heard a few rumblings from some fellow competitors that the course was longer than it was supposed to be. That, coupled with the all the waves and how choppy the water was, made for a very difficult swim. Unofficially, I did the 4000M in around 1:25.

I think I hit right at an hour for the 2000m Not positive though because I forgot to start my watch and then after having to swim an added 400m to scale some rocks to get out of the lake to even look at my watch. This was definitley a tough swim the water was so choppy I mean waves going over my arms choppy in spots. I did however catch up to some wetsuiters who got a five minute head start so pretty happy about that.  The guy who started us off said that we would probably catch up to some of them because he was figuring we were without wet suits because we could actually swim. I was like no I'm just cheap.

HA!! That made me laugh.

Great job you two!  Sounds like a rough swim with the extra distance and all the waves. It was pretty windy yesterday.
