Okay I've sent in my entry form. I'm just over halfway through my training plan and never thought I would sign up for this.

Wish me luck getting in. They posted the entry form today and the only way to sign up is by mail. They have 500 spots and it usually sells out fast. They will take entry forms in the order of the postmarked date. I've also heard that entry forms were available earlier this week from a local (to Victoria) running store. Let's hope that I make the first 500. Wish me luck.

Jen

Good luck Jen!!!  Hope you get in!  Victoria is my favorite city from all of my travels throughout the world, so racing there and the post-race festivities would have to be something outstanding!!  I am jealous...get in, race hard, and have fun for us both, please!!

Thank you. I'll let you know if I get in and how it goes.

Hopefully you'll be able to race it soon.

Okay just venting, but it said on the website, "We will update the list every Friday, so check Friday evening to see if you are on it. We will take registrations by postmark date, so it doesn't matter if you send it express mail or otherwise. You can register online, but we will still take registrations by postmark date."

The online registration wasn't available until Monday April 11th, so I mailed in my application on April 8th. My name still isn't on the list, but a friend of mine who registered online on the 11th is arghhh.

Now it says on the website, "!! The individual race is full. We are still accepting entries for relay teams, and the waiting list until the end of this week. !!" There is so far only 117 people listed on the website, so I guess I still have to wait for them to update it with the 500 people. Also it says, "We have just posted the first list for the Half Iron 2005. DO NOT FREAK OUT IF YOU DO NOT SEE YOU NAME ON THIS LIST. This is primarily on-line entries and those that got their entries in really early and paid by cheque (IF your cheque bounces....so does your entry unfortunately). We will try to update the list by about 100 people per day and hopefully have a complete list by the end of the week. With regards to wait list and relay information please stay tuned here and we will post information as we have it. "

I guess I will have to get in since I sent in my registration before my friend registered and his name is on the list. But what happens if they receive more mail that is postmarked before the people who registered online. Are they just going to boot them off of the list? Argghhh..

Sorry I just wanted to vent. I know I gotta be patient. Oh and keep your fingers crossed for me.

**fingers crossed**

but I would advise to go back to that "Do not freak..." comment.  But then, if you are not on the list, I would "freak" right in their office and let them have it!!!!

Hopefully that will not be the case.  Good luck!

Hey Good luck in the race. I'm using it as an inspiration for my first Tri in July, as I'm just down the road from Elk Lake. Will definitely be there to cheer you on!
Maybe I'll be ready for it next year.

Cheers

hey, good luck!
I'm new to BeginnerTriathlete.com (great site!), and will also be racing the Victoria HIM as my first HIM race (yikes!! )
Dunno about you, but the race date is approaching a little too quickly for my liking!

best of luck on the 19th!

Thanks Scott and TriTEC.

I rode the course on Monday. Scott, you will have the advantage of practicing it lots before the race next year.

The 19th is less than 3 weeks away. It's exciting, but scary.

The hardest step is signing up. After that you have a lot of incentive to train.

Does anyone who knows this race know if there is a bottle exchange on the bike course? I will only have two bottles, one on my frame and one aero bottle and I wonder if there will be somewhere on the route that they will give me a bottle, so that I can refill my aero bottle.

Thanks,
Jen
