Congrats on the new puppy!  I like Cal, but it doesn't seem to fit an American Bulldog.  My vote is for Goliath!

It's got to be something somewhat macho for that kind of dog.  Oreo just won't cut it....

He's adorable by the way.

Aku - the Babylonian god of the moon; also the villian from Samurai Jack.  I like naming my dogs after cartoon villians.  It makes calling them when they are outside in the yard a fun experience, especially when you do it the hero's voice. Like my current dog - "Mojo Jojo".

My daughter thinks either "Pluto" or "Indigo".  Since they lost their status as a planet and a color respectively, they deserve some honor.  We are a family of nerds.

We got an American Bulldog from the pound and he was named already, Bubba. It fits perfect for the dog and breed.

Fella is a good name as well, it implies something endearing. "Come here Fella", "Good Fella", "Sit Fella"

Something Bovine related could be good with the spots and being a bulldog. Ferdinand, CowDog...

Good luck, they are an awesome breed.

I would wait to name him until he has been home for a while and then name him off his personality / habits. Thats always a fun way to do it.

Here is a photo of Chatter, an American Bulldog who will be coming home with us tomorrow. CindyK, the girls and I are very excited. He seems like a great dog.

Don't forget that no matter what you name him, he will end up with several hundred nicknames, all of which he will probably respond to. Our dog "King" (that was the name he came with) went by any number of the following: King, Bud, Buddy, Bud-Bud, Buddy-butt, Bud-face, Melvin, Wookie, and any number of swears and "insults", like idiot, dumba$$, dumb-butt, etc, as well as endearing things like "sweetheart".

Parent's current dogs are Bailey and Elias (both came with those names) - aka, Bad-Dog/Bailey-face/Bailey-pants and Weiner
