Toast with jelly and coffee. 1 H2O bottle.
Drove the 1 hr to race and registered 45 mins prior to race.

Felt good on ride for the most part (I am not normally comforable on the MTB. Haven't been on MTB since nov 04. But with all the trainer rides and training felt good.

Threw my chain 1/2 way thru 1st of 2 loops. (about 30-60 sec to fix)

Back hurt for most of ride due to different position.
What would you do differently?:

Have clipless pedals or atleast straps on pedals.

Felt good coming off bike into transition only slightly wobbly. Forgot to take helmet off initially ran 20 ft and then turned around to drop off helmet.

legs a little wobbly on first .5 miles on the grass and then felt good after .5 mile into run.

shoes. Ankle need more support on grass/trails

not much, if I didn't throw chain, maybe would have gained 1-2 mins on time.

Good start of the season duathlon/triathlon
10th woman to finish. Really surpassed what I thought I would do for this race.

Hey Heidi,

Congrats on a great race! Good point on the trail shoes for the grass--I never would have thought about that. Also, nice times on the runs AND on the bike--especially considering you're not a big MTB rider, don't have clipless :0, and threw the chain.

Funny that you took off on the final leg wearing your helmet.

Sorry I didn't make it down to meet you but literally as I was grabbing the car keys the phone rang and I got news that my cousin had passed away.

Great job on the race Heidi.  Your run times were great, even without the trail shoes.  Nice to know all that work is paying off.
