Subject: Montclair Triathlon
Anyone done this before?  I am wondering about the hills on this course.  I will likely scope it out this weekend, but hills are my kryptoniteLaughing

Haven't done it before but been in that area a lot and I think there are quite a few hills on the course.  I am doing this one also so will head down there sometime for a ride.  Nice lake to swim in though, done that many times.

I did it last year and am signed up to do it again.  There are a few rolling hills, nothing really big.  I would say the worst hill is at the beginning of the bike portion, which is also the same when you start the run.   I would advise having your shoes securely on/clipped as soon as possible, especially before that hill.

Glad to hear that is shouldn't be too hard.  I am focusing the next month or so on nothing but hill training on bike and run, so hopefully it will be a breeze for me by then

Yeah, I'm assuming that the first hill they are talking about is coming up the road from the beach.  I survived it just fine last year in a training ride w/ friends when I had just gotten my bike and had NO base what so ever (not fast, but handled it fine).  I am definitely looking forward to this tri!

I just finished the Kinetic sprint and I'm stoked for Montclair.

Anyone know if one can get some OWS practice at Lake Montclair (or nearby lakes)?  This will be my first attempt at 1000m swim, and I definitely need more open water practice (tired of pools)

If you live in Montclair or know someone who does you can swim there.  There is a Swim race/clinic in Reston in a couple weeks that is still open.  Some tri-clubs in the area have deals to swim in some lakes but not sure which ones or where. 

Really not a lot of options around here.
