uhm, sure does look strange, usually sprints end with a 5K, Oly 10K, etc.

if the info is accurate, that would make for a VERY fast race, not only because of being shorter, but because people are gonna push stronger.  Send the organizer an email - it might be an error.

I did Ruskin and Sarasota, still have Ft Desoto and Cypress gardens to do from the series.  I'll be traveling the weekend of Ft Laud's race.  Good luck 2 U anyways!

GomesBolt - 2009-06-17 12:36 PM No, just that the Publix Ft Lauderdale Sprint is 700, 10, 1.7.  That just seems like a strange run distance.

Guess I should've specified the Ft L part.

that race will be over so quick.  700 yrd swim - 12-15 min, 10 mile bike 25-30 min, run 8-10 min  probably quicker since nobody will leave much since run is so short.

It's going to be interesting to see what they do with the Cypress Gardens event

Apparently the Cypress Gardens events are still a go, they're just won't be any public there.

The race is still on, confirmed by the RD. My wife is friends with them and there is nothing to worry about.

Yes, everything has stayed the same. The park just won't be open to the public, but all times and all events are still a go.

Ft Lauderdale sprint 2008 was a full 5K but 2007 and 2009 was a super sprint.  The changing conditions inside the park dictate the run.  There is an over grass run to get around to the road again ( staying out of the way of bikes) and that grass area was completely flooded.  FYI.
Looking forward to Cypress Gardens.  Never gone to that one before.

Thanks for the info Sleepman.

Cypress Gardens tookplace this AM.  Turned into a DU because of some bacterial growth and 90 degree water (I am assuming the bacteria is abundant at this temp).
R1: 0,8 mi
B: 10 mi
R2: 2.82 (per my Garmin)

It was a great event, even my kid got his shot at trying triathlon (duathlon).
There was some chaos with the R1 course and the first few runners.  The guys who were signaling the road were even telling my group not to go where another guy had instructed us to go.

The series was fine, I would like to see less last minute changes and more long-term organization but they did a good job averall.
