We may want to think up an alternate place to meet.

http://www.pavingtheway.org/northwest/
Lewis Center Road will close to the east of South Old State Road on Monday (5/18). This is a 24-hour-a-day closure that will in place until late June, weather permitting. Detour signs will be posted using South Old State Road, Orange Road and Bale Kenyon Road. This is part of a reconstruction of the intersection of South Old State Road and Lewis Center Road that will close each leg of the intersection at a time for about 45 days. Project completion: Summer of 2010 (Delaware County).

I don't know if they started tearing up the road... or if it is just closed to local traffic.

Suggestion... Bale Kenyon is at the foot of the dam before the little uphill section on Lewis Center and connect to Orange Rd. There is a middle school off of Orange Rd about 0.5mi from S. Old State or 1.3mi from Rt. 23. I have no clue about the "facilities" but there is at least parking.

I didn't make it there tonight. By wife got her new tri bike in the mail today and she spent the evening setting it up. She's out for a ride right now which puts me on Daddy Duty. I'll try to swing by there tomorrow during the day.

I went to Ultra-fit's website... They are putting on the Wendy's Triathlon on June 14th at Alum. They have not canceled but changed the bike course.

It appears that we can get to the park via Lewis Center westbound, not the normal eastbound from Rt. 23... we will just have to change the course a little.

Let us know what you find out David.

I drove by Alum Creek this afternoon. Here's what's going on: Lewis Center Rd. is closed for about 200 yards just east of S. Old State. There is no way we can get through there.

We'll still meet at the beach area at 7:30am. We'll just change up the route a little. To begin the ride we will exit the beach and turn left to Harbor Drive. Then we'll turn right and go through the neighboorhood. Right on Ketch, right on Sandhurst, right on Rockyshore and left on Parklawn and right on S. Old State.  Once we pass Lewis Center we'll follow the HIM course on the map.

The best way to get to the beach area from 71 is to get off at Polaris Parkway and go east. Take Polaris to Africa Rd and turn north (left). Turn left at Lewis Center/Big Walnut Rd. STAY ON LEWIS CENTER AND GO PAST THE SIGN THAT SAYS "LOCAL TRAFFIC ONLY." DO NOT TAKE THE DETOUR. According to the road workers we can still get to the beach. The entrance is about 1.75 miles after you turn onto Lewis Center from Africa Rd.

Should something happen and we are not able to meet at the beach our alternative meet up spot will be the below dam area. This is located on Lewis Center Rd just west of Africa Rd. You will have passed the entrance to the below dam area on the way to the beach. There are porta potties there for our break, but I did not see any place to fill water bottles. Make sure you bring enough water with you for the entire ride.

I'll see you there. I'm looking forward to it.

OK, six confirmed. Me, newbz, JChristoff, Shrintri, Trihusker and Leaping. Once again, we'll meet in the beach lot. I'll be there about 7:30 in an older, black Dodge Dakota. I'll be in one of the first parking lanes by the side bathroom. We'll leave at 8am sharp.
Weather.com is calling for a chance of rain in the afternoon starting about 1pm. It should be hot, topping out at 84* at 2pm.
See you all tomorrow morning.

In response to your inquiry....I did my first tri in 1982, have done many since then.  I lead/coach fitness swimming classes at the Dublin Rec Center as well as being a certified fitness specialist there.  Am an active USMS meet competitor.  Now doing more biking since I've got a chronic hip problem which contraindicates any running training.  Did TOSRV this May and the CFC last Sept.  Seeking to do more group riding this season esp. longer rides.

The self supported century ride was a rousing success. 6 of us completed the first loop and 3 finished the second. No crashes, no flats, no egos, no issues. Thanks to everyone who came out. There is talk of of another century ride later this summer. I'll post details in a few weeks.

Hi David! If you put together another ride for in the summer I might be in. I would love to do one as I may go visit a friend in later summer for a 150 mile ride/charity event.

Sounds like ya'll had a great time.  I might be up for one loop next time around.  I've got that HIM at the end of the summer and it'd be a great training day.
