Subject: Hello From Florida
Just wanted to introduce myself. I am an extremely new participant in this whole exercise game. I don't believe I am in the worst shape in the world but I'm no triathlete either (well, not yet). I am recently divorced and that life changing event made me re-evaluate my life in whole. I have decided to become a better person inside and out. Some people from work have motivated me to start exercising and now we are training to do a sprint in August. We are very excited and highly motivated!! I ran 1 mile the other day without stopping (alnost died twice!!) and biked on my brand new Trek 2100 for 16 miles (those little seats really make your rump sore don't they!), and swam at the local YMCA for 9 laps before being rescued by the lifeguard. I just wanted to see what my baseline exercise tolerance would be and I am pretty proud of the results.
This website is a great resource. I have learned so much about the sport and I am so excited to be doing this. I know it won't be easy ( I am 6'2" 230lbs and quit a 1/2 pack per day smoking habit in Feb.) but I am dedicated to making this work. I can't wait to get my heart rate monitor in the mail so I can start logging in my training sessions. Wish me luck everyone, and you guys and gals have a great day!!

Welcome to BT!  Sounds like you've started out great.  Take it easy on the run to start, as that's the most likely area to get injured.  Probably a good idea to do a walk/run program (like the Couch-to-5K plan on this site) to build up.  Good luck with your training and your tri!

Terry, welcome to the club. I actually work at Hurlburt and there's tons of great tri resources and opportunities in the area. I assume if you've been swimming at the Y that you have stopped in to Dragon Sports?
