Looking to pick up a new pair of shoes that will work well for both Tri and road use.

Staying away from the 3 strap road shoes, but not all that fired up about something like the specialized tri-vents which are a bit too airy.

Maybe Sidi T2's?  Was looking at the specialized S-Works, road shoes but seemed to be really easy to get tight and to loosen.

Any ideas?

I been riding with the S-works road shoe for a couple months now.

Pros:

Fit your feet like a glove.
Super stiff soles (was riding Sidi non-carbons prior)
Easy Boa system

Cons:

Cost
Boa lace sometimes comes out when loosened too much
No pull loop on the back

If you are looking for race shoes and need quick transition times, these shoes most likely would not be for you.  It would be hard to have these mounted on the bike and do a rolling entry.  It could be done with practice.

My husband wears the S-Works road shoe and he loves them...but he is strictly a cyclist, so can't attest to how they'd work in a tri.

Some other ideas might be...

Northwaves Tribal Carbon shoe...doesn't look to be as "airy" as the Trivent.

Louis Garneau also has a few tri shoe offerings...

And Lake has some, too...

I was looking at getting a tri specific shoe but settled with lakes cx 170 with the boa system and am glad I did. They fit my oddly shaped feet perfectly and I find that they are very easy and fast to get in and out of. With and without socks. Good luck finding the right shoe for you.

Louis Garneau Tri Air 2. I have many 1000s of miles in mine. Well vented, bottom, front and rear drainage. 'Correct' velcro for on the go slipping in and out of the shoes. Two insoles for either hot or cold conditions.

I love my Sidi T2's.  If you buy them at roadbikekit.com, they are a great deal (under $170 when you use promo code usarbr).  Plus all white shoes make you look faster

I absolutely love my Specialized Trivent shoes.  I use them for triathlons and road rides.  No complaints...except maybe the price.
