Pre-race routine:

I ate half a banana and drank some Gatorade. I haven't done any open water since November and I didn't know my relay partner, so I was nervous and that gave me a stomach ache. Also, I was a little scared because there have been so many sharks around here.
Event warmup:

The water was a little cold so I didn't warm up until right before my wave. I swam half way to the buoy and back. I was still really nervous and my stomach was hurting.

Comments:

The swim was really good, but it was a lot longer than 400m. It felt like 600 or more. Even so, it was good swim. The water was a little cold but not a lot of waves. I didn't have any problems til I passed the first buoy. Then I got caught between these two really big guys. I had a hard time getting away because I was stuck in between them. Finally, the one guy started swimming faster and we got away from the other guy. I was the first girl and fifth person out of the water in my wave. My mom and dad were there cheering for me and telling me good job. The run to transition was long, 1/4 mile I think. I had to stop half way to throw up, ughh salt water. My time was slower because I had to stop and I felt bad because I was doing a relay. But my relay partner was really nice and we ended up being first, so she was really happy. It was a pretty fun race, maybe next year I will do the whole race,

That was a good swim. It was longer than 400 yards and the run up the beach was tough. Good job!!

Yay! Way to go- sorry you had to throw up in the middle of it- I probably would have just stopped the race after that. Wish I could have done the race too, but I was sick that weekend. See you at St. Anthony's in 10 days!!!
