what are the temperature ratings of wetsuits?....say, 5mm is for what degree of water? i need a suit that can handle 63-65 degree water temps.

Any of them would be fine in that temp. There is no real temp rating and quite a bit of personal trial and error is involved to find your own.

I've found that <60 is good to just about perfect in a full sleeved and >70 is just about too warm for a wetsuit for me. I'm thinking of getting a sleeveless for about 65-75. But that's me, you may not be as normally warm as I am or you might be fine in a sleeveless down to 40 for all I know.

The primary thing in a tri wetsuit is the ability to swim in it so they tend to have the thicker stuff on non-bendy parts of you and the thinner stuff in the shoulders and lats.
