Surely there are more pressing issues for Clinton to worry about than Savage getting into England!

Of course, but that doesn't mean one of her minions can't spend an hour writing a letter, or she cant take 5 minutes to make a phone call.

But do those issues get her the prerequisite publicity that this one will/is?

TriRSquared - 2009-05-14 12:53 PM Perhaps your son is part of the 1%.  However ADHD has become an excuse for many parents who don't want to actually parent their children.

Alright ya'll...I rarely do this. I mean...I don't think I've *ever* done this. But if you want to start an "ADHD hoax or not" thread", feel free. BUt let's keep it out of here, OK? That's not what this thread is about.

Otherwise we'll never get to kumbaya.

You've never gone off on a tangent?  I think not kind sir...

My tangents always veer on accute angles. This one was decidedly obtuse.

Really, though...I saw the ADHD sidetrack as being a potential thread-yanker, and I wanted to nip it before it got to that.

My apologies I didn't mean to get off track, I have heard that comment many times from many places and it tends to "bug" me.

Zilla - 2009-05-14 10:56 AM See.  I read that as "two fists for Jim" ..... I had that moment where you are like ... "do I want to look? No. perhaps I shouldn't look.  But it sounds so intriguing. No, no. I have to look."  I must say I was disappointed.

I was going with two fifths and thought he was hitting the hard liquor strongly tonight.

1) Agreeing with Michael Savage.

2) Sourcing a worldnet daily article.

So as you all know, the UK published a list of "least wanted" folks--people who would be denied entry into the country because of their extreme/damaging world views. On the list: Muslim extremists, skinheads...and an American radio talk show host.

Now, personally, I find Savage's views rangie from mildly irritating to downright repugnant. This is a guy who, for instance, said about autism:

"You know what autism is? I'll tell you what autism is. In 99 percent of the cases, it's a brat who hasn't been told to cut the act out. That's what autism is."

So England, instead of ignoring him like lots of folks do, is banning him from the whole country. Which, to Americans, should be more repugnant than anything that guy could ever say. So, he's appealing to Hillary Clinton to demand that England lift the ban.

And she should. To paraphrase Voltaire, even if she doesn't agree with his words, she should defend his right to say them. And, as an extra added benefit, it could actually be a pretty good way to maybe mend the fences between the left and right in this country.

I, for one, hope she steps up.

As a side note, the ACLU is probably gonna go to bat for him. How sweet is that?

Kumbaya, anyone?

eberulf - 2009-05-14 9:23 AM What if Savage walks into the British Customs Office with Rush Limbaugh and Dick Cheney and the officer in charge only has two bullets?

You're going to he%%!

But that was just plain funny I don't care who ya are!

ChrisM - 2009-05-14 12:08 PM looks like a good hijack, but.....

I think countries should be able to admit or deny entry to anyone they want.  We don't like imposing our notions of "democracy" on other countries.  Why should we impose our notions of constitutionally granted rights of "free speech" on other countries that may have other interests?

For the record, I think that he does have disgusting viewpoints, and think it's silly that Britain banned him, just gives him more publicity.  But that's different from do they have the right to do so.

ETA - didn't read the article, but what does the American Civil Liberties Union have to do with entry into another country?

About as much as the ACLU has to do with the civil liberties of enemy combatants. Has the ACLU every taken on a 2nd amendment issue? But I digress...

I thought the UK was a sovereign nation. I agree with Chris.
