Subject: DROPPED PRICES: Shimano and Specialized shoes - sz 42/40
Posted this a month ago with no success so I'm dropping the price of each by $20.

Two shoes here, both in fantastic condition:

Shimano SH-TR02, size 42 (US 8.5).  Purchased for $99.99 on a closeout, and unfortunately I made a bad size choice as they are too big.  Ridden just 3 times outdoors and about 10 times on my indoor trainer so they're in great shape.  Cleats not included.

--Asking $40.00
Shimano SH-TR02

Specialized BG Comp MTB, size 40 (US 7.5).  Purchased for $124.99, and while these fit perfect and I love the shoes I bought them for spinning, so after buying a trainer I have no further use for them.  Used approximately 15 times, all on an indoor spin bike, and they are in PERFECT condition. Shimano SM-SH51 cleats included (purchased for $15) along with the cleat tool.

--Asking $60

'08 Specialized BG Comp

Thanks,
Ray

I was thinking about the shimano pair. I was just wondering what size running shoe you wear to base the cycling shoe off of.

Hi,

I wear a size 7.5 or 8 US running shoe (it depends on the brand...I'm currently running in a size 8 Asics Nimbus that's a great fit).  As I said, though, I definitely got the wrong size on the Shimano pair as they're too big for me--42 generally runs perfect for an 8.5 running shoe, and since these felt a half a size too big I'd say that'd be the right foot size for these shoes.

I have SIDIs 45 that have fit excellent for 5 yrs, I got a pais exactly like these shimanos and they're tight.   My sizing is different to what's offered here but you can try cycling shoes at a bike shop and try shimanos.

Now I use them w/o socks and they fit very nice - so, only for racing.  The carbon sole is super stiff, you can tell the difference big time.

Yeah, thanks for the input...it definitely makes sense when it comes to shoe sizing to try on a pair of similar shoes to make sure the size is right.  As with everything else sizing can vary greatly among brands.  That said, you're correct about the soles, they're real solid.  And the single velcro strap across the top is fantastic for racing, you can get the shoe surprisingly tight for the ride but they're simple to take off on the bike (full disclosure: as I said, I only wore the Shimano's a few times, but I ended up getting a pair of the SH-TR50's in a smaller size and have raced in them; it's an upgraded shoe but similar style and they really are awesome to get on and off).
