meblack - 2009-07-19 9:27 PM People it was not hot...it was such a big difference from doing Tri's in the Valley, it was very nice...but the altitude sucked. I hope those bikers who got hit by a car are ok.

Holy @#$%

Congrats to everyone! It was great to meet some of you and yes, it wasn't Phoenix hot, but the sun is so strong at elevation it felt plenty hot on that run.
Did anyone doing the Half get any total elevation data on the bike and run?

It certainly felt hot doing the 1/2 distance..not Phoenix hot, but hot with an intense sun (I'm burned).

I heard that the guy that got hit had some road rash but still ran the OLY and finished.

I missed seeing most of you out there! I saw Astrid, and heard someone call my name in T2. Be nice to group up a bit more before the race next time.

That's good...I saw the girl that got hit and she didn't look so good...I hope she was able to finish. Thanks for the update.

Does anyone think the Oly swim was short?  Either that, or I am much faster at altitude.

It looked short to a bunch of us and the Half swim was certainly long by 400 yards.

Bryan,
I heard a finished (someone that came in just after you) saying that the swim was 1.4 miles. That's about 15% long. Ha!

Well, thats like 350M long and that would jibe with the splits, no one went better than 31min. and that's a good 5min too slow for the best swimmers, of which I am not one! But I was 4+min slower here than anyother half swim I have done and it's not the altitude.
