Subject: How durable?

are swim shorts for running and biking? I got some Speedo long shorts for swimming to get rid of my board shorts. I don't have a lot of money right now and I saw the Speedo shorts and a Nike compresson shirt on a very good sale so I picked them up. I wore the shorts under my normal shorts today when I went running. How durable do you think they are? Can I train in them or should I just keep them for swimming and race day? This is mainly for the gym I am asking. I know Tri shorts are better but I have to make a drive to get some and they will be more money. So what do you guys think?

Just as a side note this is the first time in my life since I was in track 15 years ago I have wore clothes this tight lol I feel very self conscious wearing them but on race day I won’t care.

Maybe buy some 2nd hand gym shorts or something for running and cycling it. They would probably wear out waaay faster if you swim and run and bike train in them

I have under shorts I wear when I train that are tight like the swim shorts but I wouldent be able to wear them in a pool. I was wondering for the days I go to the gym to swim how bad would it be to just wear the swim shorts under my normal shorts when I'm running or riding. I can just change into and out of the pool I just wanted to get use to the swim shorts and how they feel while running and riding.

My first Tri is a sprint so everything is short.

I often use my Speedo Endurance as compression shorts under my baggies on days that I am gonna swim. Speedos are quite durable. I wouldn't worry. And, if your @ss is reasonably tough, you can do the who triathlon in them.

That is what I am hoping and working on HTFU so that should be fine. It's only a 9 mile ride so nothing at all.

Those Speedo endurance or other 100% polyester jammers are tough as nails. Unbelievably tough actually. I've been abusing my Reebok $30 100% polyester jammer by swimming all my swims, both ocean & pool, occasional bike sprints, and lots of running, and it still looks like it's brand new.
