I had to work today, so I couldn't take you up on the offer. I've got Monday off, and it sounded like such a good idea -- to get to know the roads and water, that I think I'll go up in the morning and do the same. Let us know how it went.

It went pretty good. Did a swim, bike, run. Tried to do the same course that we are going to follow for the Buster Britton Triathlon.

The bike of course is hilly. According to the garmin +/-2500ft of elevation gain/loss but their are some fast sections which are fun. Around mile 3 their is a huge hill, I have to remember not to push it too crazy hard at the beggining or else that hill is really going to kill me.

The run is going to be a blast. It's mostly uphill going out so the second half should be a lot faster. Another thing is the last .25 miles before you turn around is not paved very well.

I plan on going up again next Saturday if anyone is interested.

I should be there next Friday or Saturday. I'm local, but the hills are still tough though. Maybe I'll catch you there.

We still have a week to work out some details if you're up for it.

Just got back from my trial run.

I did shorten the swim up a bit, just because. Even though the water was fairly warm, I still had a hard time breathing at first. After that settled down, my real weakness appeared -- I can't swim straight for the life of me, and I can't spot either. Hopefully, I'll get behind someone who knows where they're going.

The bike was tough, but at least now I know where the hills are. The one at mile three is bad, but the one that got me was the shorter, but I think steeper one, on the way back up toward transition (about mile 12.3). Do we have to ride in the bike lane, except to pass? It was ok when I was going 6 to 10 mph uphill, but anything over 15 mph on the way down and it got a little bit scary.

By the time I got to the run, it was about 10:15 and it was already really hot. On the upper part of the course, there seemed to be more trees and shade which was good. And there was a whole lot more uphill on the way out than the way back, but I sill had a slower time on the way back.

Of course, I did the whole thing at race pace, meaning that I finished!

any tips for making up the hills next weekend?  Tips on working the gears, etc.  I'm still pretty "green" when it comes to riding.

So who's racing BB next weekend?  From looking at the map my ride file it doesn't look that bad.  But we'll see next week.
