Ok...I'm officially registered.  Who else is in?

I know that there won't be quite as many BT folks at this one as there were at Hawk Island, or that will be at Big Fish, but I'll still bring my tent for us to have a home base.

I'm looking forward to this one, especially since it's my "home course".

I'm leaning toward Kensington on the 28th, but this one looks fun...I can't afford both.

Got any details on the course? I don't want any repeats of the rookie mistakes I made last time around here! What's the course like? I'm so excited!

I'm trying to leverage this one... apparently it is "up to me".  Parents and in-laws might be in town to celebrate our purchase of a boat... plus Father's Day.

I'm hoping I can get them all crammed into a minivan or two to witness (plus it's free babysitting).  Laughing
I've not yet registered, though

They have maps of the website of the swim, bike and run.  This is what I remember:

The swim should be a triangle (straight out from the beach, right, and then angled back to the beach).

The bike is all within the park, so I'd be very hard to get lost.

The run....not so sure.  I think it's a two loop course by the beach, part on grass and part on paved trails.

I just found the maps.

Now this is computer question: Is there any way to size down the pics so that I can print them into a single sheet? Those files are HUGE and my printer seizes up every time I try and print them.

I am planning on doing the one in August. It will be my first and I am already extremely nervous.

Anyway, I was looking at the same pics today and having a hard time making out the route so I made a google pedometer map for the bike route.

Not sure this will make it any easier to print but it made it a lot easier for me to get a good grip on just where it goes.

URL for this route is: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2907805

I am going to try to do the run later tonight.

Hi all,
I registered for my 1st Triathlon last Friday and am looking forward to it.
Being my first, will I receive an email, or something in the post regarding
what time to be there, and what to bring (proof of ID etc...)
All it says on the website is that the race starts at 7:30am
I've read here that most races have waves, and I would race with other
beginners. Maybe all that information is provided the morning of the race?
In which case I would have to be there well before the race start time,
maybe an 1hr or even more?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks!

Hey!  I'm not sure if you'll get an email before Sunday.  But, if I were you I'd try to get there as early as possible.  That way you can get your transition area setup, warm up properly, mingle a bit and relax a minute before the thing starts.  You'll be surprised how fast the time goes in the morning....before you know it you'll be in the water.  So....my suggestion is to get there really early.  I'll be there by 6:00am at the latest.

I'm not sure how the waves are set up for this one.  Normally, you'd go off with your sex and your age group....for example Males under 40, Males over 40, Females under 40, then Females over 40.  I haven't done this tri  yet, so maybe others can give more specific information regarding the waves they had last year.  I don't know if this race has a special wave specifically for beginners.

Bring your ID....not sure if they'll actually look at it, but they may.

I'm going to bring my blue tent....so look for it and feel free to swing by if you want to before the race.  Don't be shy.  I'll probably be standing in that thing all by myself anyways.  lol

And bring your USAT card (if you're an annual member). They check that as well, if they're doing their job. Good luck!

Other than the blue tent, how do I find you guys? I'll be the one with big "lambchop" style sideburns, and a slight "mullet fauxhawk" or something like that. I can hardly describe myself well. But I want to meet some of you, since I've not been able to see anyone in a training session.

Is anyone going out today for packet pickup?  I'm assuming there is early packet pickup, but I can't find anything on the website.  I'll probably swing up there around 3pm and am hoping to get a chance to swim the swim course.

No packet pick up today....but the park is opening at 5am tomorrow for registration and packet pick up.  I'm going to get there as early as my body will let me.  I'll have the blue tent, and I'll be wearing a bright orange shirt.

I swam the swim course (twice).  It's a good one.  You can't see the bottom at all...it is pretty murky.  But there's not much seawead and the beach area is nice and sandy.

I can't wait...it's going to be a fun race tomorrow!
