Greeting Gary,

It has been awhile.

I have no clue on the roads, just wanted to say hi and that I'll be there.

Hope to see you.

I thought in another thread they were saying most of those roads up there had been covered by chip seal. Hopefully someone will confirm or deny this.

I have hate in my heart for chipseal!  There was a couple of short stretches on the Mesquite ride.  Thought my bike was going to come apart!

Are you referring to the Collin Classic?

http://www.collinclassic.org/home.html

They have multiple different routes from 15 to 55. Here is the map, looks like most of the roads will be chip seal.

http://www.collinclassic.org/documents/routemap.cc.09.pdf

I myself will not be partaking in this event!

I only have information on 1377 and 544. They are both chipseal, but it is older and not too bad. 544 has some nice rollers and 1377 is fairly flat. On 1377 just south of the powder blue Verona water tower, beware of the chocolate zamakazee pitbull. He is the one that sent me to the ER.

IF any of you do this and stop at the last rest stop, PLEASE TELL Yuri Cook that he has to go to Kansas to support me... Lorinda. He has a plane ticket that leaves at 5:10 pm and he is now trying to back out saying he possibly can't make it.

Tell any of the volunteers that he needs to get on the plane, this is very important to me, its my birthday and he is my sponsor/best friend.

The rest stop will be very noticeable, RAINTREE PEDIATRICS....

Thank  you, see at a race soon!

Ok, LOTS of chip sealed roads. I'm not sure I would do this one again. Wasn't very impressed with the rest stops either....long lines and NO ICE. I was near heat stroke when I finished, really really bad headache the last 10 miles and chills in 100 degrees! The showers in the high school must have moderated temperatures, because I could not get cold or hot water, just medium.

Saw lots of crashes too.

That doesn't sound fun at all.

Were there any positives?  Cool tshirt, nice pace booty, etc?

Haha you know, I haven't even looked at the shirt. BUT, I did see a cute little piggie walking on the side of the road next to use at one point. He was just waggin' that tail! Kinda like he was enjoying the ride from his level lol

The chip seal alone kept me away. I'm not paying to ride on chip seal. Period. I can ride on smooth roads for free with my cycling club.

Ride was really bad (did the 55) - apparently there were over 175 people that had to SAG in b/c of the heat. Roads were bad, LONG lines at the aid stations (really let us fill our own water bottles, its MUCH faster)!

Keep saying im not going to do this ride and then somebody posts it on BT and the peer pressure begins.

I would say at least 50% of the 55 mile route (which was really only 53 miles!) was chip sealed. That was another gripe - none of the routes were as long as they were advertised as. 55 was 53, 47 was only 43, 38 was 36...or close to those figures. I was actually happy mine was over when it was with the way I was feeling, but why advertise it that way if it's not true?

I think it was the 3rd aid station, I stood in line behind about 40 people (3 lines) to get water and sports drink. After 5 minutes and no movement, I said "Screw this" and got back on the bike.
