If money was no object, and you had to choose a new wheel set between these 2, which would it be?

If money were no object, I would get a set of 404's for windy runs and a set of 909's for calm race days.

404 Clysdlaes

the depth of the others spooks me too much. It is never perfectly calm, and at speed, a gust can push you into another bike, into the shoulder, etc. Not worth the extra 10 seconds if you crash.

really? have you done a side by side spin-off between the two? Zipp wheels have such nice bearings, they spin so much lighter than HED. Zipp discs are 305g lighter than HED. HED is about $150 cheaper, but we were talking money no object, right? the Zipp 808 front wheel is better handling in crosswinds than the HED 3-spoke. Riding a 3-spoke is like riding a concrete wheel. I'll take Zipps if money isn't a factor. I ride 404s and chose to spend more than a set of carbon-rimmed HEDs because I believe the Zipp is a better wheel.

Yea, me too, but I went with Bontrager carbon X-Lite Racers for $800. They're great on climbs and handle well in the wind. I figured for $800, if I'm not happy with them I can always go Zipps, but if I like them as much as my so-far first impressions, I'm money ahead.

Have a set of Hed3 carbons and love them, not like riding on concrete at all. Of course they're too much wheel for me, but money isn't really an object. So I bought what I wanted. For low wind I run both tri-spokes, on big wind days go with a deep rim front, trispoke back. I don't have a disc, don't really want one at this time.

I think it's kinda like ford or chevy, or red bike or blue bike, myself. Sure are a lot of pros riding Heds, so don't think they can be as bad as you say.

I wouldnt choose either, zipp 808's have the deep front wheel and that can cause a lot of problems in a cross wind situation. So a while ago (at IMAZ) I bought the Zipp 606's and I love them. And yea they cost me...my first car. but yea I would take the 2005 Zipp 900 disc.

Is the 606 wheel set an 808 rear wheel and a 404 front wheel?

$150 difference? Where are you shopping? You can get an H3 carbon AND a Hed lite rear disk for the same price as a 2005 zipp disk... maybe I was just looking at the wrong price sheet.
