Subject: Specific saddle question for the ladies
I've had my road bike and been doing tris on it for two years, yet I still don't have my seat dialed in. After trying about a half dozen saddles, I finally elimanated the issue of pain and pressure on my sit bones by using a more padded saddle. The problem I'm having now is that the additional padding in the front of the saddle is too much for my pubic area causing numbness.

Can any ladies recommend a good saddle that gives the extra cushion in back, yet won't cause the front to go numb? Thanks!!

I'm currently using the Terry Butterfly Tri Gel. I really like it.  I've had the problem of the front going numb, too, especially when aero.  That doesn't seem to be a problem with this one.

Have you tried tilting your saddle down slightly? Just a smidge? See if that helps.

Uh, that saddle is NOT padded.

Now this... this is a saddle with padding (see the one on the right).

KSH, that sure is padded! I'm going to assume that's not your racing saddle?? If I'm wrong and you've found success riding with something that looks like that, please share its make and model!

I haven't tried the nose down. I certainly will now though. Everything's worth a try at this point!

You can do a search here on BT for lots of threads on this topic. Sounds like a cut out is needed. How do you ride most of the time? On drops? on hoods? Makes a big difference in your position on the saddle.

I get a new saddle about every 1-2 years as the more I ride the harder saddle I like. I used to ride the Terry Butterfly tri gel now that saddle feels like I'm wearing a diaper..can't stand it.

I ride different saddle for road, cross and tri bikes. My body is in different position so there are different issues.

Tri bike with your hips rolled you can have pressure on your soft tissue that is painful even if you are sitting mostly on your sitz bones.

I ride this Selle SMP Glider..huge cut out so no part of my soft tissue touches the saddle. It is expensive and takes some time to get used to but I can ride 8 hours and not be sore at all when done.

x2 on the Selle SMP, but I have the Glider model.  It wasn't cheap, but after spending several months getting more and more frustrated at my inability to find a comfortable saddle, I didn't even hesitate to keep it once I confirmed it was going to work for me.
