I am wondering, lets say you have the choice and money is no object here. Would you go with

A - HED 3 Front and back
B - HED 3 front and a Renn disk
C - HED 3 front and a disk cover in the back

Is the $$ worth the difference between the disk and the disk cover? Also, do you think that having HED back and a disk cover for another wheel is a good idea? Is there some type of weather that you would prefer to ride with a HED3 in the back instead of a disk cover/disk?

And last question, HED now has two models of trispoke. 55mm and 90mm, which one do you guys recommend if lets say I only have one set of race wheels?

Thanks in advance.

unless you're a very fast cyclist you won't get the benefit of the 90mm over the 55mm HED 3, at least that's what I understand from reading the web site.  Think you have to be an over 25mph rider to enjoy the aero benefit between the two (this is for the front wheel only).

For the rear, the order (fastest to slowest) would be disk, 90mm HED 3, HED 3.

If money is no object, why bother asking on the interweb? Why even consider the HEDs? Why not go with the top-of-the-line Zipps, or even more expensive. test-certified-faster wheels?

The rest of us who live in the real world have to weigh the marginal cost against the marginal benefit in our decision making. Each person is going to assign different values to the dollars he has to spend and to the real and perceived benefits  he's going to receive for that expenditure. Given that, only you can answer your questions.

Research the benefits, decide on your own if those benefits are worth the dollars.

Personally, I race with the HED3 front and a Renn 575 dic in the rear. There are faster folks, more knowledgeable people on here who ride with a rear disc cover; there are slower, more naive folk who ride Zipps. And vice versa.

I guess you didn't read my post well Bear. I did say "Let's say money is no object" but it seems you read "I am freaking rich and I don't know what to do with my money"

I put this there just because I wanted to have your opinions on the wheels setup only without taking into account the price of them. If I was freaking rich I would grab myself all the possible setups of Zipp, but sadly I am not and I have to make the best decision possible. So I am asking you guys, who have experience with those wheels your opinion.

I was wondering if it's worth haveing a disk cover and another rear wheel, as a HED 3, for some kind of weather, or if the disk wheel can be ride in any kind of weather. If the cover is almost as good as the Renn, etc etc

Anyway, sorry if my original post was not clear enough.

Option 'C' with the 90mm.

I would not throw on the H3 deep in the front unless you are a 25MPH+ average rider in a race. My suggestion would be to throw on a Stinger Disc with a Stinger 6 in the front (assuming you want tubular). Call Hed and talk to them about your riding style. They are fantastic to work with and will be upfront and honest with you.

There is not one race I would do without a disc (except Kona where you are not allowed).
