I would like to come but it is father's day. is general swimming open at that time? If it is then I could let my boy's (9,14) swim while I train with you.

Are you biking or running after the swim? I am doing a 22 on Saturday but still open for a bike on Sunday, I'll just be slow.

Not sure yet. I'm definitely swimming if weather permits but apparently 24 family members are descending upon my house for Father's Day and I'm the grill man.... I'll know more by Friday....

Looks like my 9 year old has a roller hockey final game at 12:30 back in Monroe so I am going to have to leave by 11:30. I guess I'll just keep it to a swim. I'll bring my bike just in case but it would be to short or I might bike beforehand. It also depends on Saturday's weather and if I can get out that day.

figured as much - with not being sure what to expect, made other training plans for tomorrow.

Good luck if anyone heads out there - I need to get out there one of these weekends!

OK, so I was actually there yesterday late morning, like 11 am. The weather was not too bad - a little overcast, and the beach was open - I did practice drills there with my class for about an hour.

The lifeguards came out once they saw there were people who actually wanted to swim; otherwise the park  was pretty empty.

Yeah, I was somewhat annoyed when I saw the weather in the am but I had already committed to a HUGE family gathering so I took the day as a recovery day.

Planning to get up there this Sunday at 10am though...

I might do that too, I NEED to spend as much time attempting to actually OWS in my wetsuit as possible. If nothing else I could bike that hill a few times.

Had a great swim up at Lake Welch this morning followed by a 45m run. Water was a bit chilly but not crowded so the "lanes" were clear and the rope was open for several chair lengths...

I'll be up there again tomorrow morning, (Monday) as well...

I decided to go on Sunday, but got there late (1 pm) and the lake was packed. Managed to swim really close to the line a few times but the conditions were far too close to actual race conditions for me to stay too long! The water felt great though.

I have only been to Lake Welch, not any of the others. I would get there right at 10(when the beach is open) especially if the weather is good - although I don't think it woudl get too crowded in the water before noon.

I'm coming from Hopewell Junction  84 & the taconic.  Newbie here so be kind.  In fact this will only be the second time out in the open with my wetsuit.  My plan is to swim for about 30 minutes or so, do a 20 mile bike and then run for 4 miles.

I have a friend from work who is going to try and make it but he isn't doing the swim.  We both are doing the Vassar Brothers in La Grange on 9/12.

I'm doing the Tri and he is doing the Du.

I think the lake is a great place to start if you are new.  I am , and I feel okay there.  Its shallow and easy to navigate. I will be there with my class this Sunday at 10, so there will be other people in the water in wetsuits.
