Subject: Bike failure
As you probably agree, biking is the most hazardous part, as you have to tend not only your body but also your bike. Suppose you have an unfortunate incident such as a flat tire (or a detached chain). Provided your goal is to only finish the race, is it normally allowed to run with the bike on your shoulders for the remaining part of the leg and then drop it once the running starts?

Run with it, yes. Though you would be much better off if you learn to fix those minor problems in most cases.

"Drop it," no! You have to re-rack it just as if you finished the ride, then you may proceed onto the run.
