Hey everybody,

I am doing my 1st sprint in about 2 months. I'm not so much concerned with speed, I just want to be consistant. I have read so many different things online, I was wondering if someone could give me reccomendations on what to wear for the tri. I have a swim suit, I don't really want to buy at a wet suit at this point. Do I put bike shorts over the suit? Do I get tri shorts? Same thing for running, I think I would rather take a little more time and be comfortable, am I wrong?  Please fill me in on what works. (I am a female) Thanks!

Just get the tri shorts and wear them for all 3 events. You won't need a wetsuit, probably. If you're a guy, then all you need is to put on a shirt, shoes, and maybe socks at T1. I'll let the ladies answer as to what they recommend.

My first isn't until August, but I had the same concern.  Since a baithing suit is not supportive enough up top, the women on this site suggested that I pick up some tri shorts (like bike shorts but with less padding) and simply do everything in those and my sports bra.  I will throw a light top on in T1.

Good luck and have fun!!!

Tri shorts are the way to go; I did my first tri in bathers and put shorts on for the bike and run.  Even though it was only a super sprint, the marks from chafing last for days and it was really painful.  A tri top (with a sports bra underneath if you need the support) with save you having to struggle into a t-shirt when wet which a) loses you time, b) is annoying and c) makes you feel like a dill when the chick next to you takes pity on you and pulls it down at the backSmile  Have a blast, you never forget your first.
