Anybody else racing? I built up a sweet Titus 29r over the winter... putting on my racing tires tonight. Rocky Gap State Park is about two hours from DC/Baltimore and about an hour from Frederick. 1/2 mile swim, 14 mile trail bike, 5 mile trail run. Should be fun.

This race is on my wish list to do one day. Not comfortable enough on a MTB to go out and race on it.

Good luck.

Me and two buddies are racing, it will be a first TRI for two of us (me included) and first XTERRA for all.....  We went up to Rocky Gap to ride this past weekend and had a blast.  At some point we made a wrong turn and went to the top of the mountain into PA, our detour only added seven miles to the trip.  I think it was uphill in both directions....

Race day should be a lot of fun.

That sounds like a blast. How technical is the bike course?

This is the race that got me interested in tri, but we decided it was a little much for a first event. Now that my mountain bike was stolen, who knows if I'll make it to this.

I went up there with Erik and had a good time riding the course although my legs were shot after the climb up Evitts Revenge.  The course does have a section of some knarly rocks (just ask Erik...I think the swelling is down by now).  But for the most part the single track is tight and barring slower traffic, you should be able to fly through it.  The climbs shouldn't be that bad since what we rode wasn't on the actual course.  This will be my first tri in 12 years.  Hoping to just finish feeling like it couldn't have done any better.

Subject: Water Temp?? RE: Xterra Rocky Gap July 12th
ANybody know the water temp? I am headed out tomorrow (Friday) to ride the course before the race weekend, and I'll get something up unless anyone else knows the water temp. No wetsuits, right?
