Eric - glad to have you here! Now we don't have to copy what we read on Facebook into this thread!

The time heading up to the race - Rev3 has been awesome. Looking forward to getting this on!

For those who use .gpx, I put the athlete's guide into mapmyride:
http://www.mapmyride.com/route/us/oh/sandusky/214128300649542893

Follow roads was used, and both loops included following the directions in the athlete's guide. I usually save as .gpx to put in my Edge 705. Only guess is exact transition location, but as long as I join up with the course within the first mile it will give accurate guidance for the remainder. It is untested but generally mapmyride only has minor burps on other routes I've done.

Game day decision.  I'm bringing both of them with me.  If its low 70's I'll wear the full -  If there's a question, though, I'll end up wearing my sleeveless.   The cold doesn't bother me and I'd rather deal with that  than the possibility of overheating.

I have a challenge from the athlete's guide. Talking about the Special Needs bag - it states: "Additionally - Think about when you were out on your training rides and stopped at a gas station - What did you want or crave?"

How am I going to get a pizza in that special needs bag? And I'd talk to Dean Karnazes about having a pizza delivered while we're running - but since we can't get outside food...

Ken,
River Rd had already been done when we were on it for the course preview ride.

Total chipseal is about 12-15 miles per 56 mile loop.

2 more weeks......they are going to be smooth as glass

Really?  I did not remember it being chipped.  it seemed pretty fresh.  I might not have noticed it on the preview day because we still had 50 people in the group and I was concentrating on the wheel in front of me.

What is the total time allowed for the half?  Race guide says 8:30, website says 8????

Will the swim waves be in the same order as the full?

Swim waves only for the half. The full is a all at once start except for the pro's. The swim waves are listed in the athletes guide.

OK I am an Iron Virgin and have only done 3 other tris. I have a few questions:
What is meant by clean transition?
I understand the concept of special needs bags, but don't know how you get them.
When and where do you drop off your special needs bags
What happens to my wetsuit goggles etc that I remove at T1 T2
Is a changing tent really a tent or is it just like a locker room?

Clean transition = only your bike is there. You put your helmet, gloves, shoes (if not on bike) in 1 bag; your running stuff in another one - there will be two hooks in transition - you put your T1 bag on the top hook - and your T2 bag on the bottom hook.

They will give us four bags at check in - we drop off our special needs bag the morning of.

Typically a changing tent is - a tent. I think transition is set up in a parking lot - so it most likely will be - a tent! (There are two - we don't share with the ladies.)

Check out the athlete guide on the Rev3 website - it has all of the details.

Couple of questions for Eric or whoever at Rev3 might be monitoring:

1) the athlete guide says that spectators won't need tickets after 8pm to get into the finish line,  but when I was talking to a few of you at the last practice ride, it was said that you'd cut a deal with Cedar Point to allow people in before then.  If that's not the case then spectators of the HIM will need tickets and if the tri-gods are kind to me I'll be done before 8 too.  So, are tickets required for that or not?

2) will there be periodic timing checkpoints throughout the course like Ironman has so that people can tell where we're at on the course?  And if so, how do they monitor it?  On your website?  I have a rough  idea of the  timing I'll have for the bike and run, but it would be nice for family and  friends to be able to tell where we're  at so they know when to be at the transition area and finish.

Totally bummed, I sent Trakkers an e-mail asking if the my wife will be able to use my Droid to track me.  i got a response stating that they do not have that many units available for the race.  Many that signed up early will not get the device.  Oh, but stop by the table to learn more about the great product they have!  (note the sarcasm)

Trakkers is one of the main sponsors and they cannot support this race?

X2 on this.  I had tried to get one a couple weeks ago and they were out and got the same "visit our table" response.  I had specifically signed up for the race early thinking I'd get one only to find out that I needed to contact them directly....and didn't find this out till it was too late.  I posted a message above asking about periodic checkpoints like Ironman has - hopefully they'll have something like that so our families can have some idea of when to start looking for us.

Not sure if Droid has an app, but iPhone has one from InstaMapper which will relay gps coords to a  website so you can be tracked.  I was planning on taking this with me at least on the bike.

Is it time to start freaking out about extended weather forceasts? Or is the road quality still the hot topic.

I think we officially have to wait until race day falls within the 10 day forecast to start freaking about that.

So - I think the official order right now is:

1) Roads
2) Tapering
3) Weather

May have to add the temperature of the CeraSport on race day - cause it sure tastes better cold - but I think that's an HM right now.
