Subject: Gold Rush Randonnee 750 mile bike ride (90 hours)
Wow there is a 750 mile bike ride to be completed in 90 hours that goes through our home town.... I wonder how many will find our home town (of 3000 people). It goes from Davis CA to Davis Creek CA and back.  Some of the riders have been  going 36 hours  + on the bike without rest at this point.  Are any of our BTers in on this race?  If so I will wave to you when you go within 1.5 miles of my house...  I really hope they have good lighting for thier bikes on the mountain passes with junky roads and roads often not wide enough to even have a complete white line on the side of the road.

I thought that they had run it every year for 4 years, but I could be wrong.  It looks like the middle of the pack is headed back south now.  It is impressive that some rode straight through the night.  There are cots set up at certain locations for folks to sleep at and supplies along the way.  Other than these folks I have only seen 2 other road bikes in our area in the past 7 years (other than mine).  Folks who are not into sports (99.9999 percent of the town) have got to be wondering what's up.  Invaded by cyclists, what next a gym in town omygosh!
