Subject: Road bike to Tri bike question
Hey everybody. I have a 08 Fuji Team Pro road bike and just rode my first triathlon with it (Alcatraz). It worked out great due to the hills and all. My concern is this: I am planning on doing a HIM next June. I am debating whether to save my money and add-on to my Fuji (aero bars, wheels, etc.) or use the money to buy a tri bike. I am not going to sell my Fuji, so these are really my only two options. I don't have alot of money to work with, either. I was looking at buying a P1 but won't be able to afford to upgrade it for awhile. I would be just fine converting my Fuji for a HIM, right? Thanks for your time!

You'd definitely be fine converting the Fuji for the HIM. If you're trying to save money, all you really need are aerobars. You might have to tweak the fit a bit with someone who knows something about road cycling vs. aero positions if you don't want to pay for a new bike fitting, though.

You may want to consider a forward seatpost as well as aero bars.

Stick with your current bike and add the aerobars.

You have a great bike already. Add some aerobars and a new seatpost to get a more aggressive angle, probably get refit as well and if you wanted to be even slightly crazier you could add in a drink system too.

This is assuming you already have the basics like clipless pedals, etc...

Thanks everybody. I appreciate the input. I am going to stay with the Fuji and get re-fit. There is a bike shop near me that said they will do that for me.
