So I have been debating doing this sprint for a while now.  Ive heard bad things about LGES organization of their races.......so should I do this one or pass it up?

There was a thread about this a while ago. A couple of us are planning on doing the HIM and while I am not excited about the feedback I got on the RD or the race, I am still doing it.    I am riding the bike course ahead of time since that is supposedly where most of the confusion lies.  Other feedback is the transition is poorly watched, the swim is crowded and the traffic and lack of volunteers on the bike course make it somewhat unsafe.  Sounds pleasant, right?

Just be prepared for some potential delays, familiarize yourself with the bike course, and be careful.

And get there early to make sure you are prepared.

i'll be there for the half - i'm determined that this is going to be a good, fun race!  I'll take others' past experiences as a call to be more alert regarding safety (which isn't a bad idea in any case), and i plan to ride the bike course a couple times (probably also not a bad idea in any case), but i'm not going to dwell on any reports of past negatives and let them ruin my race experience.

I'm just going to keep in mind that i'm an age grouper, and proud of it - darnit i race for FUN!

Like I have posted, as in any race, be responsible for YOURSELF! Know the course, even if you have to drive it, there are maps available at packet pickup the day before. Ive done many of his races, and though there are flaws, not enough volunteers etc...volunteers not knowing the course well....I still go back for certain races cause I love the course. Lake Geneva is one I did a few times, years ago, and may this year. Did Lake Michigan last week, and in 2006 and 2007. Never got lost, never felt unsafe...

Listen to the course talks, Frank does explain things very well these days...(just NOT to his volunteers...as I witnessed on Saturday...and helped her out myself)

Just have fun. and take charge of your race and your own safety. (yes, I DO agree that the director should do that, BUT, we all need to watch out for ourselves and other competitors...as we should in all aspects of life...)

The Lake Geneva course is challenging, and a good course to end the season for those of us not doing IMoo (yes, my Donkai friends...a COUPLE of us are only strappin!)

I will be doing the oly.  I am visiting from WA and I wanted to include both the IM and a race in my visit.  This is the one that worked.

I was a bit disappointed to hear that the race director didn't have the best reputation, but I agree with you.  The race is what you make it.

See ya there!

Hey all

I did lake geneva last year and did not think it was all that bad. Maybe I am partial, as I have spent a lot of time in the area. do not have my cue sheet from last year otherwise I would scan it and post it. The bike was not all that well marked, so the one time I rode it before helped.
