Sunny
Total Time = 1h 39m 25s
Overall Rank = 300/420
Age Group = 25-29
Age Group Rank = 21/22
Pre-race routine:

None, woke up early, stretched and went to the race set to check-in and set up my transition area.
Swim
  • 07m 52s
  • 300 yards
  • 02m 37s / 100 yards
Comments:

It was first triathlon and I was already nervous about the swim. I think I began to panic after I was passed and got some water through my goggles. It messed my pattern.
What would you do differently?:

Be more confident in my training and trust that I can do it just as I trained.
Transition 1
  • 03m 30s
Comments:

I don't have bike shoes that snap on the pedals. I had a tough time getting the socks and shoes on. It took me a lot longer to get everyone on and get the bike out than I thought.
Bike
  • 57m 51s
  • 13.8 miles
  • 14.31 mile/hr
Comments:

It was my best bike time to date. I think I could pushed harder in the first few miles of the bike. I didn't drink any water...big mistake!
What would you do differently?:

Get to a faster pace from the beginning. Drink water at least 30 minutes into the ride. Don't slow down too much approaching hills.
Transition 2
  • 01m 5s
Comments:

It was a quick transition because I already had my running shoes on.
What would you do differently?:

Don't concentrate on trying to eat gel. I think I wasted more time trying to eat some power gel than the benefit it gave me.
Run
  • 29m 15s
  • 3.15 miles
  • 09m 17s  min/mile
Comments:

My legs cramped up right at the beginning of the run, I had to stop and stretch. It wasted a lot of time...it took me until the first mile for legs to feel loose again.
Post race
Warm down:

Didnt' do any.

Thanks, I had a great time doing the race. You should try the race next year since you live in Dallas. It is a very fun course.

Nice work! Don't you just want to tell everyone how cool it was????

I just had normal dinner before the race, but tried to eat balanced meals the 4-5 days before. Pre race dinner was steak, green salad, bread, corn and squash. Breakfast was banana bread with pnut butter, water followed by banana 45 mins before race.

Great job! I feel your pain about the bike. I did my first tri last June and cramped the whole run. Mountain bike did not cut it. Bought a Cervelo TT bike which has made a huge difference. Are you doing the Metroplex Sprint in Grand Prairie in June?

Hey Thanks. Yeah, I am hoping to win a Cannondale road bike on Ebay today...it is not the best available...but until I get more money, it will have to do. ANything will be better than a mountain bike again. No, I am not going to do the Metroplex Sprint, it is one week after another one I am doing in Atlanta. I am considering doing the Woolman Olympic Tri in August, however, I would have to improve my swimming a whole lot before I could do that.

But I am hooked on Triathlons now, I love training for them.
