I know many are water proof/resistent, but do any actually track HR?  Does it track HR better with a top on?

My cheepo Polar works just fine in the water, when the belt stays in place. Wall push-offs tend to move the belt. Works really well under a wetsuit.

I've got a Polar F6, $100 dicks sporting goods.  Works just fine for me.  Use it in the pool all the time with no problems.

I have a Polar (S210?). I don't wear it in the pool, but I wear it in the OWS portion of a triathlon, and it seems to pick up my HR just fine.

My Suunto T3 does not, but I think they offer an optional "Smart Belt" chest strap which will store the data and transmit it to the watch when it does get a connection.

I have a Sports Instruments and it works just fine.  Like someone else mentioned it's sometimes difficult to keep the chest strap in place when you push off the wall, you really have to make it as tight as possible for that situation.  Under a wetsuit it works great though.

Ta dah:

I haven't used it, since it just came out, so I can't say if it works or not. Also, I think it would be incredibly annoying to have the device's speaking your heart rate into your ear at set intervals.
