Hey all--

I have been lurking for a while and thought it was time to join the community. I am another runner who got hooked into this when the guys at the office told me I should do a tri. I learned how to swim badly enough to do a reverse sprint at CSULB. (I did learn that if you ride a mountain bike with a half flat tire that you will get smoked Wink.)

Shortly afterwards, at a raucous party, I was approached with a line I couldn't refuse. "If you train properly, you can totally do an Ironman by the end of 2010..." Being overly optimistic and slightly masochistic, I took the bait--hook, line, and sinker. Under 17 Tempe 2010, here I come!!!

I am now working on building a base of biking (with a decent road bike), trying to not drink too much of the pool in my master's swim team practices, and not to overdo the running.

Hope to hear from all of you as we trudge along the road of happy destiny!

Cool!  Yes, a reverse sprint tri for your first - the swim being last...if it was a really hot day I would do it..

Hey Ron--

Thanks so much for replying to both this thread and my other posting in the which training program would be best. I am going to go with the Gold membership for the first year to help me get my bearings better as you suggested.

Hopefully, I will figure out the Garmin exporting OK...

Again, thanks for the encouragement and look to see you in the forums!
