Subject: Bottle cage for small bike frame
Can anyone recommend a decent water bottle cage for both the downtube and seat tube of my 51cm Cervelo Soloist Carbon???? I'm currently using an Elite Ciussi Side Entry cage on my downtube (nothing yet on the seat tube), and I haven't been too thrilled with it. So far, I haven't been able to find a normal cage that will work with my small frame (cannot pull the bottle out due to the top tube being in the way)...hence the necessity for a side-entry cage...which obviously limits my choices. Does anyone here ride a smaller frame bike, yet is still able to use a regular bottle cage without any problems? If so, I'd like to hear what kind of cage you're using. Thanks!!

I ride a 47cm Trek Madone 5.2 and had exactly the same problem.

I've been using the Arundel side entry on the seat tube.  I have to use a 20 oz bottle in that one even with the side entry and using the holes on the cage that position it the lowest on the tube.  I bigger bottle just gets jammed up under the top tube.

I have an Arundel regular cage on the downtube and can carry a 24 oz bottle in that one.  Mounted in the lowest position I can easily get the bottle in and out.

Couldn't find a regular cage that worked at all.  The Arundel cages seem sturdy...one of my concerns with the carbon cages.  I was afraid the little tab on the bottom would break off.  I've been very pleased so far.

Thank you!!! I will check out the Arundel cages. I've seen tons of them online, but was a little leary about the sturdiness of a carbon cage...well, that and the high price tag! But now I'll take a second look at them.

Yeah, I did think of going that route...but I really don't like the seat-mounted holders. I ride a ton of rough roads in my area, and I can just visualize my bottles flying out of the holder after hitting some of these rough patches of road and not even realizing that they're gone until I go to take a sip. At least with a cage mounted on my downtube, I can occasionally glance down and see if it's about to fall out.
