i think I may be doing it.  I am accompanying a fiend who signed up for it as her 1st tri....and as I will be there it's hard to just watchSmile Got my wallet stolen though so waiting for my new cards to come in so I can sign up. Have you done it before or is it the 1st year for the race?

This is the first year for it, and first triathlon at Mount Snow. I live in the area, so I was psyched to sign up since I usually need to travel to get to races.

I got an email the other day that they are looking for swim sisters, or swim angels, if you don't end up signing up. Check with your friend, she might have gotten an email about signing up friends, they were offering gift certificates for referring, though it looks like the offer expired, but you never know, maybe they'd honor it.

The swim is in a tiny puddle called Snow Lake, I imagine they will have to keep the waves small, otherwise the width of 100 women would take up the width of the lake.

The bike course is beautiful and a good challenge, some hills and rollers, and the run will have some hills, but is short.

There's a mountain bike festival taking place there the same weekend, and I just hope Mount Snow and Trek work out all the safety and travel logistics, but maybe that's why the race is so early.

sounds good.  Maybe they will do a time trial start for the swim.  I was at a tri in NH that was a small mountain fed lake and that was how thay handled it. Hopefully they have good feedack and keep it in yrs to come so you will always have a local race.  Good luck!

Hey I found a Forum! What about wetsuits?  those women in the Swim Sisters email looked really cold!  I wasn't even thinking wetsuit.  i hope they were somewhere else....
and the run distance on this beginnertriathlete.com site says 1.3 miles, what do you know about that?  I thought a sprint was supposed to be 3, I was kinda glad to see it listed as 2, but 1.3?

thanks for any info you can share!

The run is 2.1 according to the trek website.  I'm in too.  This is only my second tri ever.  Last year I did Danskin Webster Lake.  The hills are scaring the crap out of me, but I only need to keep moving forward!Sealed

I just signed up. I did the Philly Danskin Tri this past Sunday which became a Du and was later called due to sever thunderstorms (4.5 inches of rain in one hour). I was one of about half who were able to finish but it wasn't a tri so I'm tri-ing again.

Are the hills really hard?

Wetsuits - I'm not sure what the ruling will be, but my guess is the water temp will be mid-hi 70's. It's a tiny man made shallow lake, but it is fed by a stream, so maybe it's colder than I'm expecting. I'm also doubting the swim will be a full half mile. I looked at a google map of the lake, and the proposed swim triangle, and it looks between 0.25 and 0.3, which is good news for me since I don't swim great.

Run - I think the 2.1 on the trek site is right. There are some short hills on the run, nothing too punishing.

Bike - I just rode the course yesterday, and it was a lot tougher than I expected it to be. The nice thing is that there are a lot of downhills, but that means there are also uphills. It's rarely flat. It's so gorgeous though, and definitely doable, none of the hills are too seriously steep or long.

I'll be going to registration early on Sat. I actually have to work at the mountain that day, but am hoping to sneak out so I can get the course info, and hear Sally speak.

Anyone interested in trying to meetup?

Maybe I'll go over and stick my foot in the lake, just to allay the cold water fears! I used to work on ski patrol at Mt Snow, and there was a funny discussion when the triathlon was announced. Apparently, none of us have ever swam in Snow Lake sober! They actually don't have the lake open to swimming normally, not sure why tho.

I would but I'm not sure when I will arrive and which sessions I will be attending.
Have you gotten a chance to check the lake temp?

I will likely get up there today close to the end of the packet pick up.  We are supposed to leave at 11am..getting us there about 130p...but that is if my friend is on time and we make no stops and don't make any wrong turns:P  Anyway I have long curly hair and am pretty tan.  I am mixed black, hispanic and irish so I might stand out a bit in VT..lol. I plan to wear the same tri suit as in my photo as it's the only one I have. My friend is a tall red head....if you think you see me feel free to come up and say hi.  Good luck ladies...and have fun!

I think I'll be wearing pink 2xu shorts, probably a pink underarmour top. Not sure if I'm going to need extra layers for the bike though!
I have long brown hair and #838.

curlz- I'm pretty sure I saw you out there!
That was fun, I was not really conditioned for the run though, I haven't run in about 2 weeks due to a bummed knee. But it was short!

I was very impressed with the organization and volunteers. Hope everyone had a good race!
