So I spent all day Sunday outside.. part of it doing yard work and the rest at a friends house drinking during a party. I noticed some slight discomfort yesterday on my right sit bone.. Today it was unbearable and thought I had a groin strain... well it turns out I have been bitten by a spider very close to the no no spot.... and it hurts.. really bad. I just thought I would share my pain in hope to get someone a laugh. Anybody have experience with spider bites in bad places.. I have been bitten on my forehead while I was in the army and that wasnt too bad. But this is hell.

For me it has always been, not so much the area of the bite, but the creature which bit me. Certain spiders I have really bad reactions too (swelling all around the bite, turns large and red, sometimes a little bit of liquid to have the doctor drain etc...Getting one of those anywhere sucks and is a huge damper however I find your situation comical in imaging you trying to sit comfortably at work, co worker asks you whats up and you having to explain it or making up some completely horrendous story

What kind of spiders are lurking in the Chicago area I didn't know about?

Are you sure it was a spider bite?  In my wrestling days I'd see guys complain about spider bites and they turned out to be staph/MRSA.  In either case keep a close eye on it (get a mirror) and keep the wound super-clean.

My question is...

How did it ever get that close without you realizing? Were you being silly and running around naked?

Yeah I have been taking "bathroom" breaks constantly at work to make sure it is kept clean. Last thing I need is an infection down there. Stupid spiders

I live in NC and I woke up yesterday with a small blood blister on my ring finger of my right hand.  Or so I thought.  As the day went on it started to get worse.  I went to an Urgent Care and they punctured the blister, swabbed it and started my on two antibiotics.  They think it may have been a brown recluse spider.

My finger is swollen, blistering and oozing.  I'm not sure if I should work out or not b/c I've heard working out can cause the venom to spread in your bloodstream.  Here's what my finger looks like this morning (24 hrs after the bite...I think).
