Subject: calf and or achilles issue
anyone know why my achilles and calf muscles are so tight first thing in the morning ? like right out of bed.. i can barely walk ..

i am afraid of trying to stretch them out for fear of tearing or pulling them.. but what is this ?

Are you stretching well after your workouts?  If not try that.  I also really like the foam roller post workout when I'm at the gym.  If that doesn't help try stretching post shower so the heat of the shower has some time to loosen things up a bit.

I have an old Achilles tear that continues to rear its ugly head, and every morning I cannot walk without pain. My physiotherapist tells me this is a result of recurring tendonitis/inflammation.

Try sleeping with the Achilles socks - the ones that have a strap from your toe so it holds your foot flexed overnight - we generally sleep with our Achilles shortened, and lengthening it out can resolve a lot of the problems ... also - as mentioned - lots of stretching not just of your calves but also your hamstrings and glutes, and calf raises to strengthen the muscles around the Achilles.

Can you over stretch your achillies tendon? I stretch and stretch and I still have a problem with it! Help! I have tried everything!

Does this sound like something you have  retrocalcaneal bursitis. I looked it up and it is what I have. Check it out!

'cause you're old and decrepit? I'm 48 and  have tendinitis in my ankles and get the same thing, especially after longer or intense runs.

Recently though (past 2-3 days) the ankles are better but calf is getting worse. I think it is a grade 2 calf strain

it hurts here ---->
