After eyeing it for some time, I ordered the H2O Audio Interval headphones. It just looks so cool, and reviews seem to be favorable.

I have the same problem running on a short track--with no music the tedium of lap after lap drives me nuts. This should help a bit.

Very cool!  I highly recommend loading the themesong to Spongebob Squarepants to make you feel like you are at home in the water.

My biggest problem in the water is trying to remember my lap count so this would make that problem worse unless I had something to physically hit at the end of the pool.

Have you tried it yet?  I need something.  I was thinking about the waterproof case/headphones for my nano.  But I'm worried about it leaking and ruining my ipod.  Maybe something made for water would be better.

No, haven't tried it yet... I'll probably throw up a review once it arrives.

H2O Audio does have a guarantee where they'll pay if your iPod gets destroyed...

I swim in a lake - the boats, jet skis, and silly people falling off of them make lots of noise!

Funny, I listen to lots of things while I swim, my heart, breathing, the bubbles when I exhale, the beat of my kick (sometimes, the voices in my head...

And that's what I like to do on a long ride/run--I think it's the short laps that drive me nuts. I totally agree that it's a lot easier to just keep on going in open water. A mile in open water is fun--a mile in the pool is a necessary evil and feels like mild psychological torture.

I just ordered a Swimp3 from trisports.  It's supposed to arrive on Thursday.  I'll let you know how I like it.

That's great for 30-45 minutes...for a 1.5 hour swim... YAWN!

I have always been a "swim without music" kind of gal, but I'm leaning more towards the idea of music.

I have the H2O model as well.  No issues whatsoever.  Take time to figure out which of the earbuds (it comes with 4 or 5 different sizes, i think) is the right fit.  It makes a big difference in sound quality.  As it turns out, I wear a different size in each ear.

I was lap swimming at my pool and they had some aqua aerobics class right next to my lap lane.  The instructor brought out some stereo equipment that I think was banned from the 89 Metallica tour for being too loud.  I could make out the words to every Michael Jackson techno remix, even when I dove 5ft deep.  And yes 90% of the songs she used was Michael Jackson.

That's pretty cool.  If I ever get to the point where I'm swimming over 1000m then I'd probably get some of those.
