Turns out my computer was not calibrated to my tires.  Rookie mistake.  I thought I had initially fixed the problem by moving the transmitter on my spoke but no, it was definitely the calibration after I READ THE MANUAL!! who knew those would be helpful.  Well sorry for all of the commotion, but hey it was exciting.  I just completed my first ride under new calibration with a time of 57:50 and a distance of 16.7.  Now I pose a new question, my tri is only 12 days away, should I be O.K. in completing it?  My swimming and run logs are accurate in my training log, I know that for sure, if you need to reference.  Thanks again guys.

according to the numbers you have posted for July, I would say you will have no problem what so ever in completing your tri in 12 days.
Good luck.

p.s. Maybe you can tell people that you were once able to average 27mph on the bike.

I assume that you're talking about a sprint tri.  In that case, no problem.
