Subject: Registering for an Ironman
With the Ironman events selling out so quick I was looking for some understanding on it works.

Lets take for example  IM FL.  The 2009 race date is November 7th.  It is my understanding that you can register on line at 12pm on November 8th.  Since this event is not currently shown on active I would assume that I would need to be on active's web site at 12pm and keep refreshing the screen while searching for the Ironman in Panama City, FL until the event show's up and then register.  Is this correct?

The ironman website isn't clear on how this works.  Thanks for the help.

Yes, IF it is going to have online registration, it will be up on Active at the time stated. Seems like it may be this year if LP was any indication.

I ended up volunteering at this year's Lake Placid Ironman...volunteers get priority for onsite registration the next morning. Also, I highly recommend volunteering--one, it's a great experience, very inspirational and a ton of fun; and two, you'll learn a lot and get some really great ideas on how you want to prepare for your own race.

The Ironman FL site should have a link up to the Active registration site, once registration is open. So you don't have to search Active continuously. I think for IMLP the link was up at about 11:45.
