Subject: 8/8 Hound and Hare Running Game
One Saturday a month, some running friends and I get together for a game of hound and hares. This is an old British school children's game where one person heads out with a 10 minute lead, leaving a trail of (in this case) flour or chalk marks and the rest of the pack tries to catch him or her. The game is made more interesting when the "hare" leaves different marks that signify, for example, an unknown direction change, or a false trail. It is a lot of fun, but as it is hard to maintain a consistent pace, it is not much of a training opportunity, and there sure won't be any water or Clif bar stops, we're just some people getting together for a run. There is a great range of skill levels, and no one will be too fast or too slow due to the nature of the game.

Our next game will start from Grumpy's bar in Roseville, Minnesota. 2801 Snelling Ave
Roseville, MN 55113, and I will be the hare.

From I-35W Take MN 36 East. Exit on Snelling and go north. Grumpy's is on your left about 1/3 mile past the RR tracks and County Rd C.

I think I just might be able to finally make it to one of these.  I've been wanting to go to one of the MH3 events too, but I've just been too busy lately.  One of these days I'll make it.

I hope you can make it Paddle2paddle (and all you lurkers are welcome too).

I just got back from scouting the trail. It's going to be a good one.  Wear old shoes. Tall socks or leggings are also recommended.

What time for the run?  My ankle is still a little swollen from my sprain, so my attendance is up in the air, but depending on the time, I may try to go out for a little run earlier to see how I might do.

Oops!  The time is always 10 am.  I'll be sure to mention that next time I announce this.

It was a great trail, nothing but rave reviews, if I do say so myself.  Perhaps next time, or even tomorrow.  I'll be at tomorrow's hash in Edina if anyone wants to come out.  The person in charge tomorrow sets reliable trails that tend to be around 4-6 miles and are not too challenging on the ankles.

See the calendar for directions:

Stupid things to do, traveling, and races.  I won't be able to make it to a hash until the 28th, or something like that.  Can't do tomorrow either.  Previous plans.  Bah.  Some day.
