I'm slated to be a swim course marshal, with no idea what that really entails (do I get a sheriff's badge?), other than I'll be positioned somewhere near the swim start (Tumbleweed). 5:30-9:30am. If you're feeling nervous and need a good kick in the pants, just seek me out. Will be wearing a blue Pearl Izumi jacket (it's supposed to be 55 degrees in the morning!!!!) and a white PI visor. Extreme Veteran 482 | Subject: RE: IM Louisville - Volunteer Thread Mike and I worked the volunteer tent Saturday from 10-3:30pm. We checked in all of the bike and gear folks that day. Then, yesterday, we were finish line catchers from 2:30-10:30pm. That was an absolutely amazing experience. I am sure that we caught many of you. I just want to say how amazing all of you are as athletes. To see first-hand what you put into this ironman-thing, and what so many of you leave on the course is just amazing. I consider it a real treat to be able to help out. Great job to all of you BT IM KY finishers!! |

I cannot begin to imagine how it must have felt for the athletes as they crossed the finish line and heard YOU ARE AN IRONMAN! I know I saw each one of you Sunday as I was the dude at the top of the 1694 turnaround that said "watch the turn, easy on the turn" approximately 2800 times. Congratulations everyone. Scott |

All the volunteers were great, but I would like to say that the athletes were absolutely amazing too. They were all so grateful, and didn't miss an opportunity to say thank you. Will be back again next year to volunteer, and then 2011.....maybe...just maybe....I'll be on the other side. Congrats to everyone! |
