Event date: Oct 11th, 2009...
OK....Wife and I are IN!!
Making this our season ending weekend getaway race. (did Panama City Sprint last yr.)
Booked room at the Saint Simons Inn by the Lighthouse, right on the beach. $119 a nite, frig, micro.
Looks fun as a first year event, field limit of 300, nice!
Georgia MultiSports does a great job with its events so looking forward to this one.

My wife and I are planning on it as well, along with some other friends from Savannah (but I haven't signed up yet). I did the Turtle Crawl (sprint) this year and really enjoyed it, so I'm hoping this one will be as much fun.

Not sure if this will be my last of the season though. We've got a sprint here in Savannah on Halloween that I might do as well.

Been looking at doing this one. This would only be my second Tri. Looks like a good one though and a nice plce to get out of the city.

Anyone have any past experience with this race?

We spent a week at St. Simons a couple of weeks ago and I managed one ride while there.  My route included just about all of the bike route except for the FJ Torras Causeway.  With the exception of the FJ Torras Causeway, it's a fast course.  Hopefully they'll have the course well-protected, as some of the locals don't take too kindly to road/tri bikes on the road.

During my ride, a plumber driving a van decided that rather than pass me like the other cars, it would be fun to sit on my wheel and sit on his horn.  Needless to say, he scared the Shiite out of me and I let him know so as he passed.  Unfortunately for him, I saw him head to Sea Island and knew exactly where he was working.  After finishing my ride, I drove over and easily tracked down his van.  With the help of the Sea Island PM on the construction site, the guy was tracked down and I let him have it.

This said, assuming good protection on the course, it'll be a fun one to ride and the downhill portions of the Causeway will be quite fast!

I believe this is a "first-year" race and GA Multi does a nice job with their races.  Limiting the amount of participants is a good move and should keep things safe.  The swim, unless weather is in the area, should be a nice ocean swim.  There was not much current while we were there.  The run will be almost pancake flat.

The participant list has been updated...up to 182 people. I think it will be nice to do a sprint again after doing my first half iron two weeks before...

I'm in, and can't wait.  It'll be my second race.  I haven't been able to train like I'd like to, but it will be fun to get out there and mix it up! We're staying at the Sea Palms Inn...indoor pool for the kids.

I am signed up to do the tri red with a friend and we are also staying at the Sea Palms Inn. Be sure to ask for the special Tri rates. We got a Deluxe Room for $99 a night.

I am debating on renting a wetsuit. Do you think I will need one or can I stand about 12 minutes  in the Ocean in October?? What do you think the water temp will be?

Looking forward to a relaxing weekend on the beach/ in the sun after the Augusta weekend. Nice way to end the season.
