Hi Folks,

My son Shawn and I have just signed up for the Minneapolis Duathlon on Aug 30th. We are going to duke it out on course up there. Anyone else going to do that event? My son Shawn is going to be a Freshman at Univ. of St. Thomas and we are doing this as a fun thing for Father and Son to do. I am going to miss him, but they all have to grow up sometime. Our sentimental competition. The day of our last event the Treadman Duathlon on Sept 5th I will be moving him into the dorm. Sniff, sniff, wipe.

Anyone want to meet up for dinner and a drink Saturday up in the cities after we pick up our packets? Just curious.

Bill

I am doing this as well. I have never done a du before so I'm not sure how the legs are going to feel after a 5K run and then to do another 5K. This is only my 2nd race of the season. Kind of having an off summer. Mostly running and not too much biking or no swimming. It's okay though.

I'll be there, and would be up for meet-up if you're willing to arrange it

Becki - your legs (and lungs) will be TIRED.  Funny thing about dus is that everyone shoots out of the gate super fast.  It's quite an experience.  Fortunately things thin out pretty quick and transitions are a cinch.

Where did summer go?  Forecast for Sunday, race time, is high 40s.

(I'm not upset by this... just amazed how quickly it ends...)

The swag bags freakin' rock!  I ran most of the bike course today - the roads are nasty in many spots. Definitely keeping the race wheels at home for this one...

The bags are great.  Wasn't sure about the orange... but I wore it with my orange scooter and I think it worked out great!  You definitely cannot miss me

I tried on a jersey so I am prepared if I decide to sign up for 2010 and get the free jersey.  They're not bad.  I wonder why they are so interested in being the biggest du?  The jerseys and bags must have cost a fortune.

Good question! But I drank the kool-aid and have already signed up for 2010 - I tried on the jersey, and I was impressed. $65 for early pre-reg and a (really nice) free jersey? I'm in I think they just want bragging rights for the biggest du in the world- and that would be pretty cool! Minneapolis has a great bike scene, and this would be a nice feather in the cap...I was in-n-out fast this morning early at packet p/u - but I'll keep an eye out for you and Rocker tomorrow!Cheers, Chris

I like orange :-)  So I was glad to have an orange back pack!

I will reserve my registration until after this year's event...but I did try on a jersey.

I am VERY curious to see if this whole thing goes off with out a cluster. Esp. with the TT (every 15 sec.) and the Du/5k starting simultaneously...in different directions.

I am stunned how well the event went today.  I actually have NO complaints - I know, it's hard to believe.

I saw Megan but no one else   Sorry, we can only do so much based on avatar pics I guess.

Hope everyone had a great race.  I'm off to sign up for 2010!

Aside from the absolutely terrible roads, it went pretty well (I think they can eliminate the TT and 5k next year though... :p).

It sucks that teh roads are so bad though--that really destroyed my enjoyment of the bike.

Loved it!!!  I had a blast out there  I saw quite a few folks I know out there, but didn't recognize any BTers.  We'll have to arrange a meetup at an upcoming event...

The roads were bad, but there's no way around that unless we get out of the city.  Team Ortho did a great job today - I'm impressed!

I really like the run course of the race. The bags are really nice and something different from the same old tech shirt or hat. The road was really bumpy at times, but heck it is in the middle of the city. Nothing they can do about that. I had a great time. Will do it again.

Great Job Team Ortho!
