Subject: San Antonio area cyclist... I need some help

I'm going to be in San Antonio for the weekend of August 21st and its one of my build weeks for Longhorn.  I need some suggestions on some good scenic bike routes.  I will be staying on the west side, so anything in Boerne, Comfort and maybe Kerville would be perfect  I know there's some good riding in that area, I'm just not familiar with it.

I'm looking for 40 to 60 miles, but I'll go longer if the ride is worth it.

Thanks!

Sorry I can't help with route suggestions but I do have an idea for you.  Call or drop by a bike shop and ask them.  Maybe they'll have a regular weekend ride posted on their website even?  See you at the Austin tri and at Longhorn!

For what it's worth while we were down there this past weekend we saw a decent number of cyclists out riding. I was shocked.

I'm offended!!!  Yes, we're one of the fattest cities in the country, but hey, we're trying to thin down (maybe)!!

There's a group from the local tri shop www.trisitionarea.com that swims at Boerne Lake, then goes for a ride in the area.  I suspect they do a nice 25 mile loop in the area, but you can always do two.  Followed by a run.  Saturdays mornings, I think.

I believe that www.brittonbikes.com has some nice routes on their website.  Their Small Texan triathlon route is the 25 mile route mentioned above.

www.rogersoler.com probably has group rides in that area also.

If you're interested in good OWS, the local master's team is sponsoring the Gatormania 3000 at Boerne Lake (the gator was found and apparently killed, incidentally) on Aug 22.  There's a 1500 meter option also.  I don't think there is online signup; just should email the coach at www.mastersofsouthtexas.com if interested.

Thanks everyone for the input.  My Houston routes are getting a little stale, so I'm actually pretty excited about riding around SA.
